Bank Holiday weekend - Sunday 30th April 2017
Great session! The wind was Easterly. Temperature peaked at just 15C but there was sun. The BBC had forecast 14 to 16 mph, compared with xcweather's 21mph+ (both plus gusts). Maybe both were right, but xc was more right with the wind really pepping up for the afternoon sailors. Force 4 became Force 5, making 6.5m sails more of a handful. It was that usual dilemma - do I change down or can I hold the bigger sail down for just a while longer? We were evenly split on that one. I'm pleased to say I managed to carry on with a 6.5m and not get especially battered! About 12 sailors got the benefit of the good conditions, including 3 visitors. There wasn't a clamour for the instruction we promised, but maybe now a few more have got their season well and truly started there'll be more call for it next time we offer. We took some video and will do more of that soon, then play it back in the clubhouse later one afternoon.
